Red Bird Community Acupuncture was started by Rebeccah Rodriguez, DOM (Doctor of Oriental Medicine).  Dr. Rodriguez trained with the founders of the Working Class Acupuncture clinic in 2009 and was inspired to bring this community-based clinic model to Albuquerque's South Valley, where many of her long-time patients live and work. It has been her dream for several years to launch this clinic to provide affordable and accessible acupuncture to as many people as possible.

Dr. Rodriguez graduated from the International Institute of Chinese Medicine in 2001.  She is board certified as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine by the State of New Mexico Board of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine and holds national certifications in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology. She also completed a Masters degree in Public Health from the University of New Mexico in 2007. Her undergraduate (Bachelor's) degree is in Behavioral Neuroscience from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  Dr. Rodriguez was a staff provider at the UNM Center for Life for several years and instructor/clinic supervisor at the Southwest Acupuncture College (Albuquerque), prior to opening Red Bird Community Acupuncture.  She has been practicing Chinese Medicine since 2001.

Rebeccah grew up on the East Coast, in Camden New Jersey, to a large working class family of Puerto Rican immigrants.  She is the 2nd eldest of 17 grandchildren.  Her parents and extended family instilled in her at a very early age the importance of "giving back to community" with whatever talents and training you are blessed with in life.  This community clinic is her way of honoring these values and sharing them with her young son, Marcos Aurelio.

Dr. Rodriguez often shares her knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine with a common-sense approach to wellness that encompasses breath work, nutrition and lifestyle recommendations.  Her way of encouraging her patients is best summarized in a refrain from her grandmother, "primero tu salud" ("your health first") meaning to move forward with life's many challenges we must first take care of our health and all good things will follow.

Dr. Rodriguez is ready to assist you in your journey to wellness, she may even share with you her fondness for the red bird!  Si, la doctora habla EspaƱol.
